We identify mid- and large-cap companies that meet specific financial strength criteria. Within this universe, we buy the stocks of companies —
- That currently pay dividends
- That meet minimum dividend payment frequency requirements
- With a dividend growth rate that typically exceeds the S&P 500 Index
- That have strong earnings growth histories and prospects for strong future earnings growth

- Fundamental research
- Positions limited to the greater of 5% or benchmark weight
- Setting parameters for sector weights, relative to the S&P 500 universe of companies with high earnings and dividends
Sell Discipline
We consider selling a stock when —
- Dividend growth rate slows
- Corporate dividend policy or dividend payout ratio changes
- Fundamentals change resulting in slower earnings growth
- Valuation of the stock exceeds expected earnings growth rate
- Financial reporting issues / management concerns arise with the company
